Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is dehydration and what are the causes?
Dehydration is a condition caused by excessive loss of total body fluids. Since dehydration most often results from sweating, vomiting, or diarrhea, fluid loss is usually accompanied by a deficiency of electrolytes. Other causes include not drinking enough water, heat exposure, high altitude, fever, chronic illness, and age.
What is hydration therapy?
Hydration therapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to replenish fluids, vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, antioxidants, and amino acids via IV. Because the nutrients are infused directly into the blood stream, they are rapidly absorbed, and the effects can be felt instantly.
Are IVs painful?
Although we do our best to make each experience as comfortable as possible, a swift pinch should be expected during IV insertion. We also have topical numbing cream available if requested.
Who can benefit?
Can anyone received these therapies?
According to current research, IV hydration is safe for most individuals. However, Montrose IV Hydration reserves the right to withhold treatment if we feel a more thorough evaluation or higher level of care is needed. Patients who have liver, kidney or congestive heart failure are not a candidate for IV therapy.
How quickly will I feel the effects?
Because the nutrients are infused directly into the bloodstream, the effects are typically felt within an hour of treatment.
Do I need to consult my doctor?
Our therapies are elective; therefore, we do not require clients to consult with their primary care provider prior to treatment.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We do not accept walk-ins at this time. Appointments are required.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance at this time.
What is your most popular infusion and why?
The Myer’s Mix is an all time favorite! It is the ultimate vitamin infusion that contains the most studied vitamin mixture created by Dr. John Meyer in the 1960s. The Myer’s Mix contains high dose multi vitamins for optimizing your immunity, neuro-function, metabolic energy, and cell recovery. It has been studied in terms of efficacy for treatment of symptoms related to multiple chronic fatigue and other debilitating disorders.
What can I expect after an Infusion?
Most people notice increased energy and feeling better overall. Some people report a vitamin taste in their mouth and strong vitamin smell in their urine, but that’s totally normal. That is how the body eliminates the nutrients once the body metabolizes them. You may see dramatic effects after the first IV depending on your nutritional hydration status. Those who get regular IVs will feel less dramatic effects as their body starts to maximize their hydration nutritional balance.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects rarely occur but if they do they are usually minor and short lived. Bruising, slight bleeding from the site and soreness can occur. Some people report feeling cooling of the arm, a metallic taste in their mouth, maybe a flushed feeling, and a vitamin smell in their urine- all of these are normal. Less common side effects are risk of infection and allergic reactions. Our skilled nursing staff are trained to identify and treat any and all side effects.
How frequently can I received IV therapy?
Frequency depends on hydration needs and choice of IV therapy. One of our nursing staff members will discuss your best options with you in order to help devise a wellness plan.
